While at dinner with the Walkers and the Cains last week, we brought up the DKPhi monthly dinners of years past.
Well right before covid hit we tried to bring them back as a 4 times a year. i.e. Spring being a St Patrick’s theme, Summer being an outdoor dining or maybe a ballgame, Fall being a PSU gamewatch or Oktoberfest dinner, and then to have a dinner or get together around holiday season. Would anyone have any interest in attending if we start these back up in the Pittsburgh area?
We also talked about the Alumni picnic. Mike and Kate had taken care of them for years and then Mike asked me if I would not mind taking them over so I did them for 10 years as well. They grew in participation and were only interrupted by our two reunions at State College. It would be a pity to not have some sort of event to get us together annually.
But frankly I have grown a bit weary doing them, it is time for me not to cater and prep and to sit down like the rest of you and have a bit and some beers for a change.
I am proposing a hybrid of sorts solution. We will reserve a grove, supply the grill and charcoal …and Mike hinted at supplying the beer as they have so generously done for many many years. We would ask everyone who would like to attend to pitch in to cover the cost of the shelter rental and the incidentals like charcoal, lighter fluid, etc.
If you guarantee you will be there, we can collect at the picnic as we always have, but with paypal, venmo, and the such it sould be easy enough to send a few dollars digitally which also would be a great way to know how many Demons and thier family to expect.
All picnic attendees would be responsible for bringing their own food (bring stuff to share if you would like), your own beverages (again share away), to bring your own untensils to cook your own food, clean up your own items when you are done.
Please supply constructive feedback and let me know if you are interested in either of these ideas.

    Rich,
I will do my best to make it up for at least the picnic, the new format sounds like a good way to go!
